Buying through a China agent, with the freight decision in its proper place

The full path of an agent order, slowed down at the one step where you pick the lane, plus how custom rail and sea requests actually work.

An order through a China agent follows the same path at almost every agent. You find an item, often through a finds catalogue such as this site's, and copy its seller link. You paste the link into the agent's search box, choose size and colour, and pay. The agent places the order and the item travels to its warehouse in China, usually within a few days.

When the item arrives it is checked and photographed. You look at the photos, accept the item or ask for a return to the seller, and leave accepted items in storage until the rest of your order arrives. Then you submit a parcel: choose the items, any packing options and a shipping line, and pay the international freight. The parcel leaves, you track it, and it arrives.

Most of the waiting sits at two points: the seller's domestic delivery and the international lane. Only the second is yours to choose.

Check the order at each handover

Before paying for the product, save its live URL and the chosen size, colour and quantity. At warehouse arrival, compare those choices with the QC photos. Ask for a clear close-up or measurement when the standard photos cannot answer your question; visual inspection does not prove authenticity or long-term quality.

Before paying freight, verify the destination address, actual route conditions, packing choice and any cover. After delivery, retain the shipping label and photograph damage or missing contents before discarding the packing. Report the specific discrepancy promptly with the order and parcel records.

This is an editorial overview across agents. The official service screenshots below illustrate particular agents’ custom-freight processes; they are not a single universal checkout tutorial.

The moment the mode gets chosen

The freight mode is fixed when you submit the parcel, and not before. By then the agent knows what is inside: LoongBuy tags each item after its warehouse check, and the submission page shows only the lines that accept every tag. If you see far fewer lines than you expected, one item in the box is usually the reason, often something with a battery or a liquid.

The weight shown at submission is an estimate. LoongBuy charges the estimated freight first and settles the difference after the warehouse packs and weighs the parcel, and the same pattern holds at most agents. A rehearsal or pre-pack service, where offered, packs the box before you commit so you can see the real weight and size and pick a lane on firm numbers. LoongBuy says it usually processes a rehearsal or a parcel submission within one business day.

This is also the moment to decide whether a slow lane is worth asking about. If the parcel is large and heavy and the date does not matter, a custom rail or sea request may be the better route, and that request is a separate process with its own timings.

Requesting a custom rail or sea route

When no standard line fits, several agents take a custom request and find a route for you, and those routes mostly run by rail or by sea. Superbuy describes two services: a non-standard service for lines it can run but you cannot select directly, and a customised service from its own logistics team. Both, it says, are mostly fulfilled by railway and ocean transport, and it follows up within 1 to 3 working days of the application.

Superbuy also says when to use them: when a parcel is over 30 kg or longer than 120 cm on any side, when you prefer lower cost over delivery time, or when no standard option works. It says not to use them for parcels under 30 kg or when time is important. That is one of the few places an agent puts a number on when a slow lane starts to make sense.

The same article lists what to expect once you apply: a reply within 1 to 3 working days, routes mostly by railway and ocean, and packaging services available on request.

What a custom quote costs before any freight

Oopbuy writes its custom process out step by step. You apply from the warehouse page when you submit a parcel, or from the shipping estimate page; the team replies within one working day; the mode is mainly rail or sea; and the customised route charges a 20 yuan operation fee first, with the final freight set after the parcel is packed. A tracking number usually appears within 3 to 5 working days of dispatch. Conversation runs through the agent's internal messages, so a slow reply from you slows the whole request.

ACBuy's customised transportation page reads almost the same: a reply within three working days, mainly railway or sea, a 20 yuan operation fee first and the final freight after packing. The fee is small, but it is paid before you know the price, so ask only when the parcel is big enough for a slow lane to matter.

Before and after card: a bulky packed parcel and the same items compressed, with notes on volume weight and returns
Packing changes volume weight, which can change the lane worth choosing.

Packing choices that change the mode question

Many lines bill on whichever is higher, the scale weight or the volume weight: the box's length, width and height multiplied, then divided by a number each line chooses. A soft jacket in a large box can therefore cost like a much heavier parcel. Removing shoe boxes, dropping hangers and compressing soft goods cuts that volume, sometimes enough to move a haul back under a courier's size limits.

Those same choices can make a slow lane unnecessary, or necessary. A haul that stays bulky after packing, such as several down jackets or a pile of boxed trainers, is exactly what custom rail or sea routes are built for. A haul that packs small rarely is. Decide on packing first, look at the packed size, and only then pick the lane.

One caution: items without their original box or tags are harder to return to a seller, and LoongBuy's 5-day return rule excludes items whose tags or packaging the warehouse removed on your instruction.
